11 civil defense members killed in Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon

BEIRUT, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) — Eleven members of the Lebanese Civil Defense were killed on Monday in Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon, according to sources from the Civil Defense and Lebanese Red Cross.
Ten members of the Civil Defense were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a center of the Islamic Health Authority in the town of Baraachit in southern Lebanon, an anonymous Civil Defense source said.
The bodies of the victims were transferred to a hospital in the city of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, according to the source.
In another incident, a civilian was killed and three others were wounded in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a house in the town of Qaliya in eastern Lebanon, a source from the Lebanese Red Cross told Xinhua.
Since Sept. 23, the Israeli army has conducted intensive attacks on Lebanon, resulting in at least 2,000 deaths. ■
